Climate & Energy Transition

Global warming poses an existential threat to the MENA region, itself the hottest region in the world. We track regional and national responses to the climate crisis in the areas of the energy transition, decarbonisation, carbon emissions mitigation, climate impact adaptation, and investment and finance flows. We further examine how environmental and market forces influence energy politics on the local, national, and regional levels, looking specifically at the nexus of climate vulnerability and regional collaboration, and the region’s role in the global energy ecosystem.
Focus Areas: Belt and Road Initiative; carbon capture and storage; circular carbon economy; climate change adaptation; climate diplomacy; climate finance; climate justice; energy efficiency; energy politics; energy transition; fossil fuels; global gateway; hydrogen; loss and damage; Middle East Green Initiative; renewables; Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); stranded assets.

We are an emerging think tank and in the start-up phase of our operations. Check back soon for content.
